Lot Essay

In 1956, the year Elvis Presley's career took off, he was booked to do a two-week season at the Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas opening on 23rd April, 1956. However, critics tore his performance apart and the hotel management was inundated with complaints from guests about the entertainment and about the unruly behaviour of underage fans in the hotel. Elvis did not go on to play the second week of his engagement as contracted.
