Lot Essay

According to the vendor, this record player was purchased from Mrs Karin Schmitz, who knew Presley when he was stationed in Bad Nauheim in Germany during his army service in 1959. On hearing that it was her sixteenth birthday, Presley asked his father Vernon, to go to the house where Presley and his family were staying, 14 Goethestrasse, and choose something of his for Karin as a present. Vernon Presley returned with the record player which Presley dedicated to Karin.
