The psychedelic revolution saw innovative performers such as Country Joe And The Fish, Big Brother And The Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead and Quicksilver Messenger Service on stage at the Family Dog Avalon Ballroom venue and Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium. Country Joe And The Fish started up in Berkeley clubs in San Francisco in 1965. They appeared at Woodstock and at Monterey in 1967 and shortly afterwards, their debut album Electric Music For The Mind And Body reached the Top 40 in the U.S. charts.
