A French ormolu-mounted mantel clock
Last quarter 19th Century
Surmounted by a pair of putti, one with flambeau and flower garland, the other supporting a lyre, above the circular white enamel dial, with Roman numerals and Arabic five-minute divisions and with pierced gilt hands, signed MONBRO FILS AINE/A PARIS, the twin-train movement with countwheel striking on a bell, flanked by ribbon-tied foliate and fruit festoons and a scrolled foliate-cast bracket to each side, on shaped foliate and Vitruvian scroll-cast base centred by a female mask above tied palm fronds, on toupie feet
