COMPARATIVE LITERATURE
Charles Avery Giambologna, Phaidon/Christie's 1987. The figure of Morgante features in a number of portraits, notably shown perched on a wine barrel and another on a water dragon. These are derived from a marble statue of him riding on the back of a turtle by Valerio Cioli at the entrance to the Boboli Gardens. This figure is in the manner of two versions, one shown standing with a walking stick, the other as Bacchus.
