On mathematics, Arabic manuscript on cream paper, 139ff. with 21ll. of neat black Ottoman naskh, titles and numerals in red, many small diagrams, final folio with colophon copied by Abu Muhammad Salih al-Yazdi and dated 21 Ramadhan of the fifth year of the fourth decade of the first century of the second millennium, in red morocco binding with watered paper overlay, good condition

Lot Essay

The author is mentioned in Brockelmann (S.II, p.591) as active in the year 1047/1637. This copy must, therefore, have been made during his lifetime. In the colophon it is claimed that this copy was transcribed from an original copy belonging to Muhammad Rafi' al-Yazdi.
