With spherical body, the foot formed by a central indentation, the tubular neck with opening conical mouth, the shoulder with elegant very thin trail running down to the sides which have been pinched at intervals resulting in an arcaded effect, the mouth with a simpler trail, intact, slight surface degradation

Lot Essay

A bottle of identical form, but without the decoration seen here, is in the National Museum in Tehran, attributed to early Islamic Syria (Kordmahini, Helen A.: Glass from the Bazargan Collection, Tehran 1994, p.61). Two further very similar examples are in the Metropolitan Museum, New York (Jenkins, Marilyn D.: "Islamic Glass, a Brief History", Bulletin of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Vol.XLIV, No.2, Fall 1986, pp.14-15).
