The rich cobalt-blue dish with rounded sides on short foot, the upper surface decorated with a gold ogival lattice enclosing silver lotus flowerheads, within narrow triangular motif borders containing feathered motifs, the centre plain, good condition

Lot Essay

An early eighteenth century bidri container for lime paste in the David Collection, Copenhagen, has an almost identical lattice containing lotus flowers (Zebrowski, Mark: Gold Silver and Bronze from Mughal India, London, 1997, pl.409, p.240).
