Lot Essay

A bottle of unusual shape in the Victoria and Albert Museum has a very similar design in relief on the side panels, and is decorated using some of the same glazes seen here (Lane, Arthur: Later Islamic Pottery, London, 1957, pl.92A). The body of another bottle from the same mould as that is in the Keir Collection (Robinson, B.W. et.al.: Islamic Art in the Keir Collection, London, 1988, no.C88ii, ill.p.228).
