Lot Essay

Probably a scene in Boston. Salmon was in Boston from 1828 and was commissioned to paint the Old State House, Boston, on fire by the Boston Fire Department in 1836. The painting was later engraved and incorporated in the Certificate of Membership of the Boston Fire Department.
