Lot Essay

The sitter was the daughter of Hendrik van Soeteren and Catherina von Hien. For their portraits and their historical background see lots 51 and 52 in the sale of 9 May 2000 in these rooms. The sitter married Richard Johan de Neree (1639-1686) in 1662.
