AN EARLY VICTORIAN MAHOGANY AND YEWWOOD KNEEHOLE DESK
Circa 1840 and reconfigured from a Georgian desk
The crossbanded rectangular top with gilt-tooled green leather inset and with molded edge over a long frieze drawer faced as two short drawers, over a kneehole with blind Gothic tracery panel, flanked to each side by three graduated short drawers, the yewwood panelled reverse with a false short central frieze drawer above a hinged door enclosing a shelved interior, on a stepped base with brass casters, each drawer front panelled and with later brass hoop and lion mask backplate, some locks stamped with a crown above VR/PATENT/CHACo
