FIVE METAL-MOUNTED LIMOGES PORCELAIN SNUFF-BOXES AND COVERS
Late 20th century, various painted and printed marks
Three with gilt-metal mounts, the cover moulded and painted in the Kakiemon palette with a mating rooster and hen, the bottom with a flower spray, the interior with the maker's mark and a butterfly, 3½in. (8.9cm.) wide overall; one with metal mounts, the cover moulded and painted with a King Charles spaniel recumbent on a grassy mound before a bone, the interior with a pink bone, 31/8in. (7.9cm.) wide; one of drum form, the cover with a colorful flower spray within a hexagon of gilt laurel suspended from the rim, each swag centering three leaves, the side gilt with a band of similar swags and leaves, the interior with pink roses and the gilt initial 'P', 2¼in. (5.7cm.) diam.; together with two modern gilt-metal mounted Halcyon Days enamel boxes, one formed as an egg and decorated overall with yellow-edged red parrot tulips, 2¼in. (5.7cm.) high, the other circular, the cover decorated with an iron-red, yellow and black butterfly amidst puce flowerheads and within an angled leaf surround, the box teal blue, 1in.
