Lot Essay

The present work was formerly in the collection of the Colquhoun family. MacBryde met the artist, Robert Colquhoun at the Glasgow School of Art where he studied between 1932-37. The two 'Roberts', both from Ayrshire, became lifelong partners, living and working together until Colquhoun's death in 1962.
