A Venetian pier glass and inset console table
Circa 1890
The breakfront pier glass with a moulded cornice, above a central mirrored section containing an oval painting of flowers in an urn, above an inner mirror with pierced carved and giltwood cresting of foliage and scrolls, the cornice with further flowerheads and scrolling foliage, flanked by canted mirror plates and bordered by long mirrored panels containing carved and giltwood shelves hung with lambrequin, scrolling strapwork and husks, within a guilloche and foliate border, the console table with serpentine brèche violette top with pierced frieze of rocaille and foliage, on scrolled cabriole legs and scroll ends, on conforming serpentine platform
