Lot Essay

A closely related wing armchair, with acanthus-enriched legs and claw feet was sold in the Moller Collection from Thorncombe Park, Surrey, Sotheby's London, 18 November 1993, lot 54. The Moller chair was illustrated in R. W. Symonds, 'The Renaming of Old English Furniture', The Antique Collector, August 1948, p. 131, fig. 8.
