Lot Essay

This elegant dressing-table, with its concave recess, reeded edge, and low three-quarter gallery, is related in design to the dressing-tables recorded in Gillows' Account Book under 11 August 1811 as 'a Handsome Mahogany five drawer Dressing Table with rim and on turned reeded legs £6.16.6', illustrated in C. Gilbert, Furniture at Temple Newsam House and Lotherton Hall, London, 1978, Vol.II, p. 382, fig. 500.
