A French gilt and patinated brass novelty desk timepiece modelled as a field gun, circa 1917
Resting on a naturalistically cast bronze base signed A. jourdain, the dial and movement set into the front wheel, inscribed around the edge Madamn [sic] aug 28th 1917, the dial decorated in two tone gilt with a stellar design, with blued steel hands and retail signature A. CHAMPION LE HAVRE, the Swiss pocket watch type movement with lever escapement, the movement case being released by a sprung catch, the gun with moving parts -- 9¾in. (25cm.) wide overall
