A famille rose armorial charger
painted and gilt with a large crest bearing a chalice, two ravens and fleurs-de-lys, surmounted by a three-quarter length lady holding a laurel branch and sword behind her back, within a shel and scrolling foliate border -- 16½in. (42cms) diam, Qianlong.
The arms may be of a society or religious body, probably impaling the arms of an important member, possibly Digby quartering Corbet. See 'Chinese Armorial Porcelain', D.S Howard, page 368.
