A PAIR OF LATE LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED CHINESE BLUE AND GILT PORCELAIN POT-POURRI VASES AND COVERS
Circa 1770, the porcelain early 18th Century
The baluster-shaped bodies decorated with shaped panels of flowering cherry blossom vases, within a dense chrysanthemum and scrolling foliate border, the domed lid with berried foliate finial and acanthus clasp, above a gadrooned rim and pierced entrelac pounced frieze, flanked by fluted voluted scrolls with pounced panels and pendant triglyphs, the circular reeded pounced base above a domed and gadroonded finial, on patera-headed and husk-trailed tapering block feet, both lids with old repairs, each with later removable brass liner and consequential rethreading
