Note: The "Enterprize" had to be navigated up the Hooghly River by the Bengal Pilot Service, the pilot being Lieut. Thomas Waghorn, whose chance meeting with Capt. Johnson, the master of the steamer, led to their cooporation and the eventual opening of the mail service between England and India by steam vessels and overland from Suez and Alexandria
