AN ANTIQUE ENAMEL AND DIAMOND CARNET
The guilloché blue enamel cover set on one side with an oval portrait miniature of an 18th century lady within an old mine-cut diamond frame, enhanced by applied rose-cut diamond ribbon and foliate motifs, with old mine-cut diamond foliate border, the reverse similarly-set with a an oval ivory plaque bearing the initials CMR surmounted by a crown, the blue enamel spine applied with gold "souvenir d'amitie" and rose-cut diamonds, with foliate rose and old-mine cut diamond clasps and integral gold pencil with rose-cut diamond terminal opening to reveal a miniature openwork neo-classical scene and initials, with ivory pages, mounted in silver and gold, (missing two small diamonds), circa 1830, 3¾ x 25/8 x 1/2 ins.
