Late 19th century, after a model by Boizot
Modelled as a philsopher reading a document, his companion studying a book, each seated on a gadrooned oval oil-lamps incised 'Canova', with gilt-bronze fluted mount at the spout, on conforming oval plinth bases applied with stylized flowers, with flame-form shades
