A Very Rare Cased 19-Bore Forsyth Patent Roller Primer Sporting Gun
By Forsyth & Co. Patent Gun Manufacturers, No. 10 Piccadilly, London, No. 410, circa 1811
With rebrowned twist barrel and silver fore-sight, the top of the breech signed 'Forsyth. & Co. Patent. Gun. Maker's London.' and with a short flat at the top and on each side, case-hardened patent breech with two gold lines, engraved serial numbered primer, finely engraved tang, case-hardened signed and engraved serial numbered flat bevelled lock with stepped tail, finely figured walnut half-stock (minor bruising), finely engraved iron mounts, the trigger-guard with some original blued finish (butt-plate with some pitting), case-hardened trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon and fore-end cap, and brass-mounted ramrod: in lined and fitted mahogany case with numerous accessories including a box of original grease, the lid with illustrated trade label of the second design (for 1809-11) and two smaller labels relating respectively to priming powder and grease, the exterior (cracked, one crack with old repair) with flush-fitting carrying handle and circular escutcheon, London proof marks
