A Rare 54-Bore German Four-Shot Miquelet-Lock Revolving Carbine
Late 17th Century
With sighted two-stage barrel and short octagonal breech section, hand-rotated cylinder with raised band at front and rear and held in each of the firing positions by a sprung bar (loose) attached to the top of the barrel by a screw, iron breech allowing central ignition via a tube into the rear of each chamber, integral tang, lightly engraved lock with chiselled foliate details and pierced extension to the rear of the top jaw, moulded beech butt (minor old repair), shaped iron mounts, short belt hook, and wooden ramrod with brass pipe (both probably later, iron parts with some pitting and surface rust)
