Lot Essay

Rijsenburg Castle, just south east of Utrecht, was first mentioned in the 13th Century. Drawn by Roelant Roghman in the 17th Century, it was demolished just before 1800. The material was partly used to build the present Catholic church of Driebergen-Rijsenburg.
