27 April 1789: "Immediately after our arrival, The People flocked round us in great numbers, we being the first Europeans that had ever visited Sirinagur"
28 April 1789: Since the Rajah was in the middle of one of his recurring feuds with his brother, "the inhabitants of Sirinagur were crossing the River as Quick as possible- they crowded on the Bridge so fast that we thought at times it would have broke, taking their Chesebust, Cots &c with them".
