A Kashan lustre and cobalt blue moulded tile fragment
Central Persia, late 13th Century
from a mihrab spandrel, the lustre ground with reserved small floral motifs and birds around a bold moulded scrolling trefoil vine tendril, a band of naskh inscription above, the lower edge with a band of part palmette interlace -- 11in. (28cm.) wide, (chipped and slightly worn). See Illustration.
