A BIZEN WAKIZASHI WITH KOSHIRAE
Mei: Bishu Osafune Yasumitsu and dated Oei ..nen nigatsubi (14th Century), 16th Century
The blade honzukuri, iorimune, chu-gissaki with bo-hi to both sides, slight torii-zori, forging pattern itame, tempered edge suguha with ko-midare, kaeri-boshi, tang suriage with two holes, 48.3cm.; encased in a roironuri saya with soritsune and kurikata, the tsuka white cotton bound with gilt menuki of anchors, the fuchi-kashira and circular tsuba en suite, of iron tsuchime-ji decorated with tied anchors, shakudo nanako kozuka with the same design in gilt case, (slight damage), and a copper habaki, one side pierced with a wheel and the other side decorated in gold hirazogan with myoga, 19th Century
