A PAIR OF RYUKYU LACQUER SQUARE TRAYS AND STANDS
Late 18th/early 19th Century
Decorated in aogai and vermilion lacquer on a roironuri ground, each lobed square tray with ying-yo mark surrounded by eight bars of the I ching emblem inlaid in aogai, the rim with bands of lozenges, with a small square foot to fit the flared base, the sides depicting sages in a bamboo grove, pots, a poem and an ox, the tray with an inscription, (slight wear)
