Lot Essay
Several carved elements of this console, such as the lambrequin stretcher and the maiden-headed scrolling legs, but particularly the entrelac frieze, are closely related to the decorative vocabulary of a number of giltwood and (now) white-painted consoles at the Residenz in Ansbach, which were supplied to Markgraf Carl-Wilhelm-Friedrich von Brandenburg-Ansbach (1712-1757) between circa 1728 and 1740.
