Letter, signed 'Sir my Brother/Your Majesty's good Sister/Victoria R', from Buckingham Palace, 30 May 1859, 2pp with integral blank leaf, 4°, to Francis II of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (1836-1894), sending the Hon. Henry George Elliot as envoy to offer congratulations upon his accession to the throne, 'He will assure Your Majesty of my ardent wishes for Your personal happiness and for the long continuanace and prosperity of Your Reign' (creased on folds), with original addressed envelope with red wax seal.

Lot Essay

Francis II succeeded his father Ferdinand II in 1859. His reign was shortlived as the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies fell before Garibaldi in 1861.
