Lot Essay

Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Nisbet Carr entered the 3rd Bengal Light Cavalry (Skinner's Horse) from the Leinster Regiment in January 1878. Transferring to the Indian Staff Corps in April 1880, he was advanced to Major in early 1898, following participation in the Samana and Kurrum Valley operations of August-September in the previous year. Carr attained the rank of Lieutenant- Colonel in January 1904.
