Lot Essay

Major Cecil Wyburn Peters entered the Army in 1875 as a Lieutenant in the 4th Hussars. Promoted Captain in 1881, he gained the Brevet of Major in 1885 and was Adjutant to the 4th Hussars between 1885 and 1891. Passing his Staff College Finals in 1891, Peters was appointed Brigade Major to the Cavalry Brigade, Aldershot in 1894.
