Private James Robert Brown was killed in action in Gallipoli on 11.7.1915, while serving in the 2nd Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. The unit's War Diary for that date notes that '40,000 rounds of enemy fire were drawn by cheering and waving bayonets' and that as a result three machine-gun positions were located. Brown was interred in Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery.
