Lot Essay

Hon. Colonel Sir Arthur Anstice was born in 1846 and educated at Trinity College, Oxford where he gained the degree of Master of Arts. A Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of the Counties of Shropshire and Gloucestershire, he became High Sheriff of Gloucestershire in 1920 and was Chairman of the Gloucestershire Territorial Force Association, 1907-24. He gained the V.D. and T.D. with the 4th Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry and was created a C.B. in 1904 and K.C.B. in 1909. Sir Arthur died in 1929.
