The bellows enamelled in white and set with rubies, the openwork scroll centre similarly set and with pierced strapwork reverse, the suspension chains and ring set with similar stones and joined to cartouche-shaped link with diamond-set drop

Lot Essay

The polychrome plaster models for both sides of this pendant are recorded as being form the workshop of Alfred André (see A. Kugel, R. Distelberger & A. Bimbenet-Privat, Joyaux Renaissance, Une Splendeur Retrouvée, Paris, 2000, annexe, pl.xxvi-d). A notation on the front of the model reads 'Côté du soufflet' and on the reverse 'Pendant du cou soufflet or émaillé en blanc, les traits de crayon représentent les filets d'or'.
