A Cantonese armorial oblong octagonal tureen and cover
19th Century
painted and gilt with central coats of arms and the mottos 'Revivere Frustra', on grounds of cartouches of birds and butterflies amongst fruiting and blossoming branches alternating with multitudes of butterflies in flight, all within borders of geometric motifs -- 10¼in. (26cm.) wide, (some gilt and enamel rubbing).
