A Naples (Fabbrica Reale Ferdinandea) plate
painted with a Neopolitan harbour scene of figures with buildings behind, indistinctly titled in iron-red script to the reverse, within a roundel gilt with interlocking circles within gilt lines, the border painted in black with figures within four orange-ground ovolos, reserved on shaped rectangular panels with gilt line rims, and painted with four pairs of animals, comprising chicken, deer, peacocks and lions, standing either side of a gilt spray of flowers and between bands of foliage, gilt line rim, underglaze blue mark, circa 1790 (star crack visible to underside, minor surface scratches and rubbing to gilding) -- 23.5cm. diam.
