A PAESTAN RED-FIGURED BELL-KRATER
Attributed to Asteas, Circa 340-330 B.C.
The obverse with a seated youthful Dionysus, nude but for a mantle draped over his left leg and a beaded bandolier under his right arm, a fillet in his flowing hair, with a thyrsus tied with a fillet leaning against his left shoulder, holding a goose in his extended left hand, a bejeweled maenad standing before him, a panther skin tied over her chiton, a thyrsus with a fillet leaning against her left arm, a wreath with a hanging fillet in her right hand; the reverse with two standing draped youths; with a palmette under each handle, a split palmette on either side of the handles, a band of laurel under the rim, and a band of wave below the scenes
