Cf. Meyer, P., Kunst und Religion der Lobi, Zurich, 1981, p.150, figs.199-201 for three similar maternity figures attributed to Lunkena Pale of Gaoua. The restlessness of the child is a characteristic found in all the maternity carvings by this artist.
