A Sevres white biscuit group of Les enfants buveurs de lait
Third quarter of the 18th Century, incised F to underside of base
Modelled by Falconet with a boy seated on a rock and drinking milk from a bowl, a small boy at his side pestering him, a basket of fruit between them at their feet, a hedgehog emerging from some straw in a box nearby, on a shaped oval grassy rockwork mound base (corner of box lid lacking, small chip to hedgehog's ear and straw)
Approximately 7 in. (18 cm.) high

Lot Essay

First modelled by Falconet after Boucher in 1759. It is taken in the reverse from an engraving by Jean Daulée after Boucher. See Pierrette Jean-Richard, Boucher no. 581.
