A Meissen rectangular documentary plaque
1776, blue crossed swords and dot mark
Painted by J.B. Müller as simulated green striated marble enclosing a puce camaïeu oval medallion with a falconer and huntsmen on horseback before buildings in a wooded landscape, the reverse inscribed J.B.Müller. Alt 67. Jahr. 1776. in black, giltwood frame
The plaque approximately 2½ in. (6.5 cm.) high x 3¾ in. (9.6 cm.) wide

Lot Essay

Müller was born in Erfurt in 1710 and was taken on as a painter, working on landscapes, at Meissen in 1744. He died a pensioner on 18th November 1781.
