Comparisons can be made between the present set of busts and ornamental garden statuary (Leeuwenberg and Halsema-Kubes, loc. cit.), although these busts were unlikely ever to have been intended for outdoor use, not least because of the fragile nature of the material. With the vigorous modelling evident in the bearded male figures, and the more delicate oval faces of the goddesses, these busts can be placed in the artistic context of late baroque Flanders.
