The influence of Coco Chanel in fashion is inestimable and the House of Chanel today is arguably the barometer for the fashion world and one that people use to measure the latest trends. Coco's passion for jewels stemmed from an early age and whether she was designing fantasy costume pieces or playing with the precious objects, the intention was to accessorize her clothes. Irregularity was the norm and whether it be in the proportion of an object or the clash of a color, an eighth century fibulae or a plastic bead, the result was one of glamour and style and it is this extraordinary gift for which she will always be remembered.
Today the House of Chanel emulated that style with precious jewels that are sophisticated and impeccably made. In a world where so much is available to so many it is sometimes hard to disseminate from so much. To maneuver oneself through this forest, design and quality should be two mandatory benchmarks by which the discerning buyer should measure any object. The collection shown here shows how this legendary institution has adapted over time and created a range of fine jewelry that will proudly stand by any of its peers 100 years from now.
