An 18th-Century brass 4-inch reflecting telescope,
signed on the back plate H. PYEFINCH LONDON, the 24in. (61.5cm.) long body-tube with starfinder, lens cap, primary and secondary speculum mirrors, screw-rod focusing, on alt-azimuth mounting, with screw clamps, fine adjustment screw-rods and ivory keys, three eyepieces labelled A, B and C (two with sun shades), with spare secondary speculum mirror, on pillar supports and folding tripod stand, the cabriole legs with inswept feet, contained in the original fitted mahogany carrying case with two handles, hooks and eyes and lock -- 27in. (68.6cm.) wide
