An 18th-Century brass surveying theodolite,
signed on the horizontal plate Adams, London, the telescope with draw-tube focusing, bubble level, mounted by twin clamps on the upper limb, secured by twin knurled screws to the vernier arm over the vertical half-circle graduated in two quadrants on one side, the other with scale for Links, the compass with silvered circle, the lower scale divided in four quadrants, the iron needle with jewelled cap, the horizontal circle with chamfered scale with clamp screw on four-screw tripod mounting -- 5¾in. (14.6cm.) high
