Details
$2½, 1847-O EF-40 (PCGS). Pale greenish gold and very weakly struck, especially visible on the reverse. A depression extends from Liberty's eye upward to letter L. In general, New Orleans quarter eagles from this era are encountered in VF grade. At the EF or finer level nearly all are scarce and some are quite rare.
Further details
This is the only example of this issue certified by PCGS as part of the S.S. Central America treasure.
