$20, 1850-O AU-50 (PCGS). Lustrous olive gold with deep orange highlights on the high points. Somewhat prooflike in the recessed areas. A scarce date, the first branch mint issue of the denomination. Typically found in VF to EF, and very desirable in AU or finer. No doubt struck from Gold Rush metal, then returned to California for use in commerce.
