This obverse has a bold 7 that is heavier than other digits. Lower serif of 1 is doubled. The reverse has a very faint S, resulting from improper depth of the mintmark punch. Collecting 1857-S double eagles in high grade and by die varieties is the stuff of which numismatic dreams are made. This sale provides the opportunity. Amazing! [SSCA 0580].
